Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Disclaimer: My understanding is that ownership has changed since I last visited a few years ago so take this review with a grain of salt. The shop has a huge welcoming room with couches, tables, chairs, a window looking out at Park Avenue and a long bar where you can sit and watch the baristas at work. The shop produces many of its own baked goods and cooks basic soup and sandwiches from scratch. If you want to order food, be there before 3 pm as the kitchen closes at 3. The business is open later and sometimes hosts live music or poetry readings. There is also a meeting room that can be reserved for your group.

The food was terrible and the coffee wasn't much better. Ordered an avocado cheese sandwich and received a thin paste made of bruised avocado and two slices of cheese. It was served on the butt of the bread with a side of potato chips. I almost thought they were playing a practical joke on me but they were serious. I tossed it in the garbage outside.

Adorable and accessible little (not so little) coffeehouse. It looks as they they have a number of social events which is always a plus! They have comfy couches, books to peruse. The coffee was good. It wasn't great (drip) but the latte was better. We were less than impressed that they neither brought us our coffee (fine, okay) nor called to us to let us know it was ready. By the time we looked up both cups were on the cold side. Mind you: there was a grand total of one other customer. I would stop by if I were going through town again, if I were in fact already in search of joe.

I used to go here every morning when I worked nearby. Honestly, they prepare a mean cup of drip coffee! I was there today for a huckleberry breve, and it was great.

The Villa Coffeehouse is amazing. When most places are trying to be hip and cool, Villa Coffeehouse does it all on its own. Good drinks with a very positive home feeling. They have comfortable couches to sit on and read, a small library to choose a book from, and tables for different reasons. I know i am now a Fan and highly recommend this for anyone just looking for a really nice relaxed place to chill.

Very nice place, great staff. I just had chili and a tram bar but the staff let me hang for an hour or so (mid day thu). I saw a lot of people's food and it looked great. Internet worked great. I went back the next evening but they were closed, bummer. I left Great Harvest bread because of no wifi and I'm glad I did.

Very cozy, comfortable coffee place. The coffee we ordered was so tasty we ordered two...the staff was friendly, helpful and delivered our coffee to our table. We also ordered sandwiches to go and the lunch was tasty. I think they could do a little more in the baked goods department as bg's are so temtping with coffee but overall a lovely oasis in Idaho Falls!!

The baristas are always super friendly here and helpful when you are trying to decide on a drink. They have so many flavor options you can pretty much make whatever. -Much better than Starbucks. -Awesome sugar free flavors and non dairy milk for those who are interested in that! -Good variety of food options -Good atmosphere

Stopped at Villa before heading to the airport - so glad we did!! Being from the Bay Area, California were used to a plethora of coffee "houses"; the problem is they're not very good. Usually they're full of hipsters, crowded seating, loud crappy music, unhappy baristas, subpar food, bad/inconsistent coffee etc. Villa is the complete opposite - plenty of seating (comfy chairs, couches, regular tables, high tops, bar, even a private room!), low music, friendly cashier, cook, & barista, freshly made breakfast sandwiches, all is in a large open room with beautiful wood floors. Very inviting atmosphere! We got the lumberjack & the business man to go; freshly made & ready quickly. For coffee we had the Carmelo & the hazelnut divinity - LOVED everything! Needless to say, Villa would be a place we'd frequent if it was in our area!!

Very friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, and delicious coffee. We are traveling across the country, and stopped in here for some coffee. We requested that the barista use real peanut butter in our blended coffee (we get it that way in our home town). She tried it, and it was delicious! Their willingness to please their customers was displayed there. Good prices, good location. :-)

It's nice to find a spot aside from Starbucks or another corporate-owned place that's open on a Sunday in Idaho Falls. The staff is friendly, the building is nicely restored, the fireplace is probably fantastic when it's cold outside, and the music is a pleasant mix that's hard to object to. All in all, I've found this spot to be a quiet, mellow, welcoming place to stop in.

Italian sodas are good, but be aware that they'll overflow if you stir them when they hand it to you! The Farmer Jack is a good breakfast sandwich, but my fave is the Lumberjack. Egg, bacon and maple syrup on a soft and flaky croissant. Yum!!

Coffee was excellent! Cute place to sit and relax. Love the choices of tea and organic tea. I like that they have almond milk but I wish they had other choices such as hemp or coconut milk or even organic milk would be nice. I'm from out of town but if I come back I will definitely come back to this coffee shop.

Love, love, love! The turkey avocado pesto melt is amazing! So are the italian sodas and chai tea! They use fresh deli meats and cheeses unlike your typical restaurant food that is processed and filled with preservatives. Seriously a must try if you are in downtown Idaho Falls and looking for a quick lunch or snack!! The atmosphere is great also, very relaxed, clean, and good place to read/work/study.

One of the better cappuccinos I've had. They also had good pastries--I had something called a "blueberry pie bar" that was quite good. They have lots of comfy seating and there seems to be adequate parking on the street. I didn't try the drip coffee but my associate told me it was good. On the other hand, he accidentally refilled with the "flavored coffee choice" (I think it was the traditional hazelnut) and said it was good too. My feeling on flavored coffees is "just say no," and what I think of as "real coffeeshops" don't have them. So, they MAY have good drip coffee too. I didn't see pour-overs or vacuum pots or any of the other paraphernalia marking the real enthusiast coffee places but didn't ask, either. My only serious knock on the place is this: they don't open until 0730. This is a problem if you have to be to work at a reasonable hour (e.g., 0800), but presumably the Idaho Falls coffee crowd aren't early risers. Or the owners aren't.

The staff is always friendly and do their jobs well. The atmosphere is wonderful. Sometimes parking can be hard, as it is one way, but if you park a ways away, the walk is pleasant. I'm no coffee expert, but their lattes are delicious and their Italian sodas are great too. The sandwiches are always made from fresh ingredients and are delicious as well. It will always be a fave of mine in town!
